Interruption Deflection

August 15, 2015

Something I saw on Pintrest that grabbed my attention was how to get your child to stop interrupting you when you're trying to have a conversation with someone else. I implemented it that very night, and it's been working ever since. In fact, I got complemented on it today!

What she does: When my daughter has something to say, she touches me on the wrist and waits for me to acknowledge her. She will wait for as long as it takes.

Here's the trick: I talked to her about touching my wrist to get my attention when she wants to say something. If she forgets and starts talking at me, I would ignore her and tap my wrist so she could see. Then she would touch my wrist and wait to be acknowledged. Every now and then, she still needs a reminder, but it doesn't take much to get her back on track. In the car, I have her touch me on the shoulder since my wrist is out of her reach.

Falling Hang-ups

July 6, 2015

I didn't take a picture of what I did, so this is the next best thing. A picture to be hung had hangings like what's shown here, yet the hangings would fall down when the picture was vertical. This made it hard to hook it on to the nails. I used tape and doubled it back making a loop. I then put one behind each hanging to hold it in place as I hooked the picture onto the nails. The tape allows you to change the angle of the hangings to your liking. Voila!
